Just before WWII, Germany and Russia were close allies. For years, under various treaties, Russia had been supplying Germany with humongous amounts (millions of tons) of raw materials and the two regimes had secretly plotted on how they would divide up Poland and other lands when WWII began. Both of these totalitarian colonizing empires believed they were composed of superior races, had superior cultures, and that they were justified in killing others to steal their lands. These beliefs were wrong!
